Table Linens

Table linens for the Art of Dining
Table linens are the foundation on which porcelain, crystal and silver are set. A tablecloth or a runner defines the colour of a table before a single plate is laid, and napkins add a personal detail at every place. Natural fibres such as linen and cotton have long been preferred for their feel, their drape and the way they soften with washing; embroidery, colour and print then give each piece its character, from crisp white for a formal dinner to bright colour for a summer lunch.
The makers in this collection take different routes. The French artist and designer Sarah Espeute explores embroidery in a poetic, minimalist way, so that each piece tells a story; her work was presented in our news as Oeuvres Sensibles. Once Milano brings an Italian approach to linen for the table. With the same dinner service, linens from either maker create a different mood.
