Raynaud
The House of Raynaud
Limoges, in central France, became the home of French porcelain after kaolin, the pure white clay that hard-paste porcelain needs, was found at nearby Saint-Yrieix in the 1760s. Raynaud belongs to this tradition. The house takes its name from Martial Raynaud, who acquired a porcelain factory in Limoges in 1919, and over the following decades it built a catalogue that ranges from classic French services to bold, contemporary decorations.
Each piece begins as a white porcelain body fired at a very high temperature, which gives hard-paste porcelain its strength and translucency. Colours and gold are then applied and fixed by further firings, often several times for a single plate. Designers have long contributed to the catalogue: the decorator Alberto Pinto created the Cristobal collection, first in red and later in ultramarine blue and in emerald green, which we present in our news post Elegant and Timeless.
Raynaud at DEROS THE SHOP in Athens
The family's boutique in Kolonaki already showcased Raynaud in 1984, alongside Ercuis. When DEROS THE SHOP was established in 2015, it presented the two houses together as Ercuis & Raynaud, so that porcelain and Ercuis silverware can be chosen for the same table. Today, at 8 Sekeri Street in Athens, DEROS THE SHOP presents a selection of Raynaud porcelain:
- Dinner sets such as Cristobal, Paradis, Trésor Bleu and Mazurka, in our dinner sets collection
- Serving pieces and bowls for sharing at the table; see our serving pieces
- Cups and saucers for tea and coffee, in our cups and saucers collection
- Porcelain accessories: ashtrays and decorative pieces for the table and the living room
A Raynaud service is a classic choice for a wedding list. Our team can also advise on bespoke and personalised pieces, including custom Limoges dinnerware, and sample selected pieces to help you choose those that suit your home style. Visit the shop or get in touch to see the collection.
