Lalique
The House of Lalique
René Lalique (1860–1945) first made his name as a jeweller in Paris, and his Art Nouveau jewels, combining gold, enamel, horn and glass, were acclaimed at the 1900 Exposition Universelle. Glass gradually took over his work: he designed perfume bottles for François Coty, and in 1921 he established a glassworks at Wingen-sur-Moder in Alsace, which began production in 1922 and where Lalique pieces are still made today. Vases such as Tourbillons and Bacchantes, created in the 1920s, are still part of the house's collection.
After his death, his son Marc Lalique moved production from glass to crystal, and his granddaughter Marie-Claude Lalique later led the house's creation. Their signature is the contrast between clear, polished crystal and a soft satin finish, which gives depth to every petal, feather and figure. Today the house's work extends from vases and sculptures to lighting, interior pieces and fragrance.
Lalique at DEROS THE SHOP in Athens
At 8 Sekeri Street in Kolonaki, DEROS THE SHOP presents a selection of Lalique crystal within its Art of Living collections:
- Vases in clear, satin-finished and coloured crystal; see also our vases collection
- Decorative objects and sculptures with the swallows, flowers and animals that recur in the house's work
- Gift ideas for weddings, anniversaries and celebrations throughout the year
A piece of Lalique is made to be kept and handed down, which makes it a meaningful wedding or anniversary gift.
Our team can include Lalique in a wedding list, sample selected pieces to help you choose those that suit your home style, and advise on gifts. Visit the shop or get in touch to discover the collection.
