Marie Daâge
The House of Marie Daâge
Marie Daâge is a French house of porcelain tableware that bears the name of the designer who founded it. Its patterns are not printed but painted by hand, one brushstroke at a time, so the colours keep a watercolour lightness and no two pieces are ever exactly alike. Small variations in a line or a petal are part of the charm, and the mark of a skilled hand rather than a machine.
The house was built on the idea that a table does not need a single matching service. Its collections are drawn to sit together, so a dinner plate in one pattern can carry a dessert plate in another, and cups in one colour can meet saucers in a second. A set can therefore be assembled piece by piece and grow over the years, changing with the seasons, the occasion or the mood of the host.
