For more than 160 years, Moser has produced some of the most beautiful and unique handcrafted crystals in the world, engaging master glassmakers, cutters, painters and engravers with high skills. The House of Moser

Moser was founded in 1857 by Ludwig Moser, an engraver who opened a workshop in Karlovy Vary, the Bohemian spa town then known as Karlsbad. His engraved glass found admirers among the visitors who came to take the waters, and in 1893 the family opened its own glassworks. The house became a supplier to the Austrian imperial court, and its crystal has long been chosen as a gift for heads of state and royal families.

Moser crystal is lead-free, and the house is known above all for its colours. In the 1920s Leo Moser, the founder's son, developed a palette of coloured crystals made with rare-earth oxides, including Alexandrite, which changes hue between daylight and artificial light. Thick walls are cut by hand into broad facets and then polished, so the colour deepens and lightens across each piece as it turns in the light.
